2021 Pennsylvania Statistical Poster Competition Winners

The Science Outreach Center and Mathematics Department at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition. The annual state competition is in its twenty-fifth year overall, and is coordinated for the thirteenth year by ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ. Cash awards of $96 for first place, $72 for second place, $48 for third place, and $24 for fourth place in each of four grade levels are awarded to the students who submitted winning posters. External financial support is provided by several regional and state professional organizations
Remake Learning Days at SFU

Interactive STEM Activities It is with regret that we announce that the Remake Learning Day scheduled for Saturday, May 15 on the campus of ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ has been CANCELLED due to low enrollment. It is completely understandable that these are busy and challenging times for all of us, and we hope to schedule and have other STEM learning events in the future. Thank you to those of you who did register. While this community event is cancelled, any of you individually are welcome to visit campus and join us for part or all of a day. Attention aspiring artists and authors! The English Department at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ is now accepting submissions from high school students for their new online magazine, New Constellations . Students looking to be published in the inaugural issue can submit their work starting May 15th through June 15th, 2021. Submission categories include fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. Visual art may also be submitted including photographs sketches, and paintings. For over a decade, $1,000 competitive grants are award annually to students proposing significant academic, creative, or service projects that are firmly grounded in the humanities. SFU Announces 2021 Mr. And Ms. Frankie Winners The Mr. and Ms. Frankie awards honor the top senior male and female students at the University each academic year. Dylan Gordon and Lauren Montecalvo were awarded the prestigious honor by Father Malachi at the President’s Awards Convocation on April 27, 2021. The award is given to those who "exemplify scholarship, leadership, achievement and service to the University, as well as to the Community." SFU Announces STEAM Summer Academies 2021

Registration is now open to the 2021 "STEAM Summer Academies" at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ. The STEAM Summer Academies are one-week immersive programs in chemistry, engineering, pre-med, and psychology for high school students who are currently in grades 10 and 11 and are at least 15 years old. Academies will be held the week of June 20 - 25, 2021. Program Fee is $500 and includes all instruction materials and room and board on campus. Limited Financial Aid is available. SFU to Host K-12 PA Statistics Poster Competition

ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ is happy to announce that SFU Science Outreach Center will again host the Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition for 2021. The competitions, held virtually, will offer cash prizes and certificates for first, second, third, and fourth place in each category. Certificates are awarded for honorable mentions in each category. The winning posters from the Pennsylvania Competition are submitted to the National Statistics Poster Competition. SFU Student wins 2020 River Symposium

Congratulations to ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ sophomore, Matthew Berzonsky. The Environmental Engineering student won first place at Bucknell University's Virtual 2020 River Symposium undergraduate poster competition held last November. His authored work, entitled "Analyzing the Impact of Mine Drainage Residuals on Phosphorus Sequestration and Agricultural Production," was among dozens of presenters from regional universities.
